Microenterprise and microfinance client, MIHO Gastrotruck, is growing and getting noticed! The gourmet food truck has added a second truck to its fleet and will now reach North County on a regular basis. MIHO has been recognized as having the best burger in the industry and has been named best food truck for the second year. As if that wasn’t enough, they are being recognized on a state level next week at the California Association for Micro Enterprise Opportunity's Annual Faces of Entrepreneurship Award Ceremony.
MIHO pioneered the now thriving food truck scene in San Diego. They started in 2010 with the mission of bringing farm fresh food, with a culinary twist, to the streets daily. By using locally-sourced ingredients, they also strive to support the local economy. As new entrepreneurs, founders Kevin Ho and Juan Miron had difficulty securing financing through traditional means and were referred to Accion by the Small Business Administration office. They received a $15,000 start-up loan from Accion to buy and fix-up an old 1984 lunch truck.
Today they have paved the way for several microentrepreneurs to open food trucks in San Diego, they employ 17 people, are expanding their reach and operations, and are being recognized for their outstanding service and successful micro-entrepreneurship!
