In the News: Micro-loans Help Small Businesses Survive

Wall Street Journal and New York Times Publish Support of Small Business Micro-Lending!

Recently there have been many headlines regarding micro-loans and small businesses! It is exciting to see this form of lending receive exposure and more support. Wall Street Journal published a great story on how micro-loans help small businesses survive (they even mention ACCION USA!). Here are some interesting quotes from the article:

"When President Barack Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act into law in February 2009 to create jobs and promote spending, the law included $56.1 million for micro-loans for small businesses, to be doled out through the Small Business Administration through September."

"Microlenders such as ACCION even provide technical assistance—for which the stimulus allocated an additional $24 million—to help small-business owners prepare to obtain a loan."
